Assassinated journalist Tara Singh Hayer was remembered Sunday as a man who stood up to violent extremists and paid the ultimate price.
Hundreds gathered at Surrey’s Brookside Gurdwara to remember Hayer, the publisher of the Indo-Canadian Times who was shot to death in his Guildford garage on Nov. 18, 1998.
Hayer’s son Dave, a former Liberal MLA, said his dad laid down his life for values that all Canadians cherish.
